I recently found this interesting page
www.kerismith.com/ask.htmlThe title refers to artists, but I feel it can be applied to every human being situation...
.Constantly compare yourself to other artists (to other human beings)
.Talk to your family about what you do and expect them to cheer you on (expect your family to understand)
.Base the success of your entire career on one project (be singleminded)
.Stick with what you know (stick with your habits)
.Undervalue your expertise (undervalue yourself)
.Let money dictate what you do (let approval of others dictate it)
.bow to societal pressures (exactly the same)
.Only do work that your family will love (set the approval as your achievement)
.Do whatever the client/customer/gallery owner/patron/investor asks (don't have the courage of your own ideas, let the other's power lead you)
.Set unachievablr/overwhelming goals. To be accomplished by tomorrow (Don't recognize and accept your own limits)
